How does live peer compare to other live streaming solutions in terms of cost to stream?

Hi @nodix. Livepeer aims to lower the cost of video transcoding in the order of 10x by applying similar techniques as cryptocurrency mining to video processing. The current network is still in alpha, but look for a drastic price reduction as the network becomes more scalable in the next 6 months.

That’s really exciting!

Out of curiosity, you mention the network is not scalable right now. Are there any benchmarks on this? What do you think would happen if I sent 10k live viewers to a live peer stream?

@nodix it really depends on how you want to distribute the video stream. It’s really easy to hook up a regular CDN to make sure the video delivery is scalable, while still use Livepeer for the transcoding portion.
