Livepeer AI Creator Adoption SPE: Real-Time AI Streaming for Artists

Executive Summary

The rise of AI-driven content creation has transformed static media into immersive, interactive experiences. However, despite this rapid growth, AI video streaming remains underdeveloped due to infrastructure limitations. This initiative places Livepeer at the forefront of the real-time AI revolution by bridging technology with creative adoption—showing artists and audiences what’s possible today and setting the foundation for widespread adoption.

This proposal establishes an ongoing creative technology program designed to validate Livepeer’s real-time AI streaming capabilities through regular artist showcases and platform integrations. By engaging established musicians, visual artists, and emerging creators, this program will provide tangible, repeatable use cases that demonstrate how Livepeer’s AI tools can transform the creative economy.

Unlike one-off events, this initiative focuses on persistent artist-driven AI streaming, helping Livepeer establish technical credibility, community adoption, and creative partnerships.

Core Mission & Need for SPE

As AI-powered video streaming gains momentum, it is crucial to position Livepeer as the leading decentralized solution for creative real-time AI streaming. With the release of Daydream, the technical barriers have significantly decreased, allowing us to focus more on creative exploration and artist support.

This SPE solves that by:

  1. Showcasing real-world implementations of Livepeer AI in artist-driven streaming.
  2. Leveraging Daydream as the primary tool for artist AI streaming.
  3. Building sustainable creative partnerships that persist beyond isolated activations.
  4. Generating ongoing content that continually reinforces Livepeer’s value in the space.

This structured, long-term approach ensures that Livepeer is not just experimented with but actively used by artists and developers, creating a foundation for broader adoption.

Rationale

The challenge in AI-powered streaming isn’t just about the technology—it’s about adoption. Many AI-driven content tools exist in isolated ecosystems, and real-time AI streaming remains inaccessible to creators without significant technical expertise. Livepeer’s infrastructure can change this by making AI-enhanced streaming intuitive, cost-effective, and widely available. By partnering with a curated selection of digital artists and creative technologists, we aim to bridge the gap between groundbreaking AI video tools and real-world creative use cases.

Unlike traditional video platforms, Livepeer’s decentralized AI-powered streaming allows for interactive, real-time, and artist-driven video applications.

However, many creators struggle to onboard due to technical complexity and lack of visible proof of concept. This program removes those barriers by offering:

  • Hands-on support for artists to integrate AI streaming into their work.
  • Technical resources to develop, test, and refine real-time AI use cases.
  • Consistent showcases that push the boundaries of AI-enhanced creativity.

By combining creator adoption with repeatable technical implementation, this SPE lays the groundwork for Livepeer to become the default infrastructure for AI-driven video content.

Program Structure

Regular AI Showcase Series

  • Each bi-weekly showcase is designed not only to feature new AI-enhanced performances but also to expand Livepeer’s creator adoption pipeline. Participating artists will contribute feedback, technical insights, and tutorials, creating a continuous cycle of refinement and education — further reinforcing Livepeer’s infrastructure as the leading standard for AI-driven streaming.

  • Each bi-weekly showcase follows a structured format: - 2-hour Live Performance: Artists showcase their work using Livepeer’s AI features in real-time, demonstrating practical applications - 30-minute Technical Workshop & Q&A: Post-broadcast session where artists demonstrate their Livepeer AI integration process, sharing implementation insights and answering technical questions from the community

  • These showcases expand Livepeer’s creator adoption pipeline, with participating artists contributing detailed feedback, technical insights, and reusable tutorials, creating a continuous cycle of refinement and education.

Platform Integration

  • Our partnership with UFO.fm ensures that Livepeer-powered AI content reaches broad and diverse audiences. By integrating real-time AI-powered video transformation and audience-interactive visuals, we will create high-engagement showcases that serve as a proof of concept for integrating Livepeer across multiple streaming ecosystems.
  • UFO is the first onchain radio station, pioneering new formats for onchain media, broadcasting, and open social graphs. By integrating Farcaster, Livepeer, and other web3-native tools, UFO is building an interactive, participatory radio platform that empowers creators and onboards audiences beyond crypto-native communities.

This proposal meets all the vote readiness criteria outlined in the Livepeer Governance Hub:

  • It has been live in the forum for 7+ days.
  • It follows the standard SPE pre-proposal template
  • All feedback received during the discussion phase has been addressed.

It’s ready to proceed to a vote! :rocket:

Dropping in to say that I am very supportive of this proposal! Live video AI is a novel technology, and working directly with streamers and creators can help position it as an important creative tool. In turn, this drives cultural awareness.

I have two recommendations:

My first recommendation is that fund allocation be shifted slightly from technical support to artist grants; with https://daydream.live/, I think the barrier to entry for creators has decreased dramatically. There may be cases where creators want to develop a unique workflow using ComfyUI+Comfystream, but I expect that many creative use cases can be served by Daydream.

My second recommendation is that the timeline be condensed so you can expand reach. For example, would it be possible condense phases 1 and 2, so that you can run 2 cohorts back-to-back (and iterate on the program after learning from the first cohort)?

Love seeing this proposal. Refraction has been long time partners with Livepeer, and Livepeer AI is creating new opportunities for closer collaboration!

We have a real opportunity to build the leading community for real time video AI. Experimentation and education with AI artists is a critical component. I point to the MetaDJ show as a good example for this already starting to happen organically. A more scaled version for that would be a big short term win.

Since Daydream has been released, the technical support / integration needs have dropped significantly. I would personally like to see Daydream (instead of ComfyStream) being the primary tool for artists in this phase, and the Livepeer team can help with monitoring / support. There is also the potential for co-developing custom LoRA with artists.

Agreed! Daydream has lowered the barrier to entry significantly. Will include this as the initial tooling for this initial pilot. Will explore condensing the timeline as well, just want to make sure that we thoughtfully progress and optimize as we go! Thanks for the feedback!
