Karma GAP x Livepeer Implementation Plan

Overview

Livepeer’s growing ecosystem of SPEs has introduced complexity in tracking performance, aligning expectations, and ensuring funds are used effectively. While proposals outline intentions, there is currently no unified infrastructure to measure follow-through or communicate progress clearly. To address this, Livepeer will integrate Karma’s Grantee Accountability Protocol (GAP) — a milestone verification and impact measurement tool built on Ethereum Attestation Service (EAS) — to bring clarity, transparency, and consistency to the SPE lifecycle.

Purpose

Karma GAP enables wallet-based milestone submissions, public visibility into grantee progress, and a standardized framework to support milestone-based funding. It transforms accountability from a social expectation into a structured system, paving the way for deeper onchain reputation and more rigorous capital allocation.

The integration will also reduce the burden of fragmented reporting across Forum, Notion, and Discord by consolidating updates into a single dashboard.

Stakeholders

  • GovWorks: Oversees implementation, SPE onboarding, data backfilling, and milestone guidance
  • SPE Teams: Responsible for milestone submissions and updates
  • Karma (Mahesh and team): Platform development and integration partner
  • Livepeer Foundation: Maintains budgetary oversight and supports potential Explorer integration
  • Livepeer Community: Engages with milestone data to assess impact and inform future treasury decisions

Timeline

Phase 1: May–July 2025

  • Onboard 10–15 existing SPEs to Karma GAP
  • Backfill milestone history and pending deliverables from past treasury rounds
  • Begin public milestone tracking and monthly summary reporting
  • Open community feedback loop to optimize user experience and reporting cadence

Phase 2: August–October 2025

  • Collaborate with Explorer team to scope a Karma read-only integration
  • Standardize milestone-based SPE proposal templates
  • Pilot milestone-linked streaming contracts using Titan infrastructure
  • Evaluate Karma’s role in ongoing SPE lifecycle (e.g. milestone gating, vesting triggers)

Maintenance & Ownership

Karma GAP will be maintained in close collaboration between GovWorks and Karma, with funding included in the GovWorks operational budget. Future integrations (e.g. Explorer, onchain contract hooks) will be scoped based on feedback and pilot outcomes.

Call to Action

Community members and SPE leads are invited to test the Karma GAP dashboard, offer feedback, and collaborate on shaping what milestone accountability looks like in Livepeer. Questions, concerns, or integration requests can be shared with @GovWorks on Discord or in the Governance Forum.
