LISAR - Delegate on Livepeer with Your Local Currency

Hey Livepeer Community!

I’m excited to share LISAR — a fiat delegation gateway that makes it simple for anyone to support the Livepeer network using their local currency. No wallet required. No crypto knowledge needed.

What LISAR Does

  • Lets anyone delegate on Livepeer using their local currency

  • Handles crypto conversions and gas fees behind the scenes

  • Offers a clean, no-wallet-required UX for delegation

  • Routes delegations strategically to improve network decentralization

Why We’re Building It

Livepeer needs more delegators for security and decentralization, but up to 85% of potential supporters can’t navigate the current path. Going from interest to actual delegation requires too many steps that feel overwhelming to normal people (wallets, gas fees, tokens, etc.)

The challenge is obvious, crypto adoption sits at only 5-15% globally, that leaves billions of people who could strengthen the Livepeer network but are currently locked out by the existing delegation process.

We’re building LISAR to bridge this gap, beginning our efforts in Africa where the potential is highest. Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa rank in the global crypto penetration top 10. These markets have millions of people already interested in crypto networks and would eagerly participate in Livepeer delegation if there was an easy way to delegate.

Our Approach

We’re taking a multi-channel strategy that’s proven to work. Bamboo, a leading investment platform in Africa, has already proven the success of such approach. They hit 500,000+ users by making US stock investing simple through local currency.

LISAR applies the same playbook to grow delegators on Livepeer - creating a straightforward way for anyone to participate in the network.

The fundamentals are solid: Africa has millions of people interested in crypto yield opportunities but can’t navigate the complexities. Our strategies target the right demographics through the right channels - workshops for trust-building, referrals for viral growth, creators for authentic reach, and content for sustained awareness.

Here’s how we’ll make it happen:

IRL & Virtual Workshops — Hands-on sessions in major tech cities across Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya where participants use LISAR to delegate in real-time and watch their delegation convert to LPT rewards. We’re targeting active web3 community groups who can see immediate value and leave as confident delegators.

Referral Program — Workshop participants earn a percentage of their referrals’ delegation APY plus bonus rewards when they bring their networks into the ecosystem. This creates exponential growth as each delegator naturally draws in more delegators from their circles.

Creator Partnerships — We’re working with trusted creators who command 13k+ engaged audiences and 50k-100k monthly impressions. These aren’t crypto promoters but relatable figures who’ll use LISAR themselves and share genuine experiences that carry more weight than paid promotions.

Performance-Based Content — Supporting video makers, writers, and educators through our contributor program to generate 50+ pieces of quality content monthly across social platforms, creating steady awareness and organic reach in our target audience feeds.

Retrospective

We’ve already made progress bringing new delegators to Livepeer having onboarded over 20 new delegators to the network from a past delegator workshop held in Abuja, Nigeria. The workshop provided evidence of genuine interest in delegation and crypto yield opportunities.

What’s Happening Now?

  • Onramp integration for fiats like NGN, USD, EUR etc.

  • Upcoming beta pilot where we’ll onboard the first ever fiat delegators on Livepeer through a workshop event. We’re very excited about this!

  • Discussions with creators for potential collaborations

Our Goal - First Wave

Our goal is to significantly grow Livepeer’s delegator base by making delegation accessible to mainstream users.

With our First Wave targeting ~1% (~15.5 million) of an addressable market of (1.5 billion) and a very realistic goal of 1,000 delegators as a starting point.

We believe LISAR can fundamentally change how people participate in the Livepeer network - opening the door to hundreds and thousands of new delegators who previously couldn’t access the ecosystem.

If you’re interested in testing out LISAR or want to collaborate, we’d love to hear from you.

how about the other way around? LPT > FIAT gateway. Well I wouldnt trust sending any FIAT to some 3rd party Africa based where I can use CEX/DEX. But there might be some ppl who will find that helpful. Good luck

This sounds great from a high level concept imo. I’m all for better UI/UX across the board

But…

What exchange is handling this?
Where are the delegations routed?
How do you plan to expand beyond Africa?
Who are the content creators and how will you market this? (outcome is net 0 if you can’t market LISAR).
How do we know there’s much interest there for Livepeer beyond some very broad metrics?

Hey @Karolak, thanks for weighing in your opinion!

Like mentioned earlier, we’re building LISAR primarily for non crypto users, normal folks who aren’t familiar with DEXs or CEXs and can’t navigate the current crypto complexity but want to earn yields. Although LISAR still serves everyone (crypto native or not).

For your concerns about sending fiat to a third party in Africa - LISAR is non-custodial, we don’t hold user funds at any point. The flow is straightforward: user’s fiat balance goes through Onramper.com (a leading onramp/offramp service trusted by Bitcoin.com, Bitget.com, Coinbase Wallet, Solflare.com, Gate.io and many others) directly to their deposit address, then to Livepeer orchestrators. For withdrawals, it’s the same route back to their bank accounts.

LISAR already covers LPT > FIAT in a way (withdrawals), but down the road in our roadmap we might integrate this as a standalone service. Would be interesting to see how that develops

Hey @Authority_Null, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts!

On/Offramping on LISAR is handled by Onramper.com (same infrastructure powering major platforms like Bitcoin.com, Bitget.com, Coinbase Wallet, Solflare.com, Gate.io among others)

Decision of where/to whom delegations are routed ultimately lies with the delegators, Lisar only lists all active orchestrators on livepeer with important metrics (such as fee cut, reward cut, reward call, performance etc.) to inform this decision.

LISAR will be a global service. Africa serves as our strategic proving ground for two key reasons:

  1. Our team already has deep operational experience here with on-ground networks, and
  2. These markets currently lead in crypto interest - Nigeria and several African markets (Ghana, Kenya, South Africa) all rank top for adoption despite low technical penetration.

For expansion, we’ll take our playbook from Africa and apply it to other markets with similar profiles - high yield interest but low technical adoption. Our next wave would likely target LATAM markets like Brazil and Mexico, followed by Southeast Asia including Philippines and Indonesia.

Each market gets full localization: native currency support, region-specific payment methods, local language interfaces, and partnerships with local communities and creators.

We absolutely understand GTM is key and are treating it as our highest priority.

We’ve already had success hosting delegator workshops with good turnout despite minimal marketing and little resource.

Our approach would be to scale this workshop effort, having one across Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa. Each workshop seeds the region with initial users, followed by virtual sessions for broader reach. Participants learn about Livepeer’s value proposition and get onboarded as active delegators during the sessions.

Beyond workshops, delegators become growth drivers through referrals - they earn a portion of their referral’s APY (1-2%), so the bigger their referral circle, the more they earn. This creates viral word-of-mouth growth where every delegator brings in more delegators.

We would also leverage content to drive growth - platforms like earn boasts of 119k creators producing 100+ contents daily and has been used by projects like Jupiter, OKX, Solana, Solfare to drive growth. We have a collaboration with earn in view

Finally here are some of the creators we’re reaching out to from our network @euboid (32k audience), @StephanieInii (15k audience), @zayn4pf (15k audience), @defiprince_(24k audience)

Interest for crypto yield opportunities in Africa is real and proven by market activity. Several crypto yield services are already expanding into the continent, with Ugly.cash being the latest major entrant (see their announcement: https://x.com/stablecoinapp/status/1955308339107336462).

With LISAR we’re simply meeting existing interest in yield opportunities and channeling it to Livepeer delegation.

Hi Winner. Superb UI/UX flow. I see how an interface like this can be explosive in Africa ,Nigeria especially with the kind of crypto-investment appetite this demographic got, with wallet and LPT abstracted away. This is a new Delegator niche Livepeer can tap into especially one that is already crypto-ready.Will this be monetized in anyway? will Livepeer be abstracted from its branding too?

Hey @Eneche-gwid.io, thanks for the feedback and great questions!

Down the road, LISAR would eventually be monetized - one way might be to charge a small fee (%) for onramping and offramping to make it more self-sustaining. But at the moment we’re building this as a public good for the ecosystem with no monetization for this first wave.

LISAR is built specifically for the Livepeer ecosystem and we’re proud to highlight that connection. Users will clearly understand they’re participating in and earning from the Livepeer network. We even have a section dedicated to promoting projects building on Livepeer within LISAR, driving growth for all ecosystem projects (Daydream, Sarah’s game, Streamplace, GWID etc.) We see ourselves as a gateway that brings more people into Livepeer.

This application has my full support. Delegation can now happen without any swaps. I love the straight forward vision. LISAR takes a complex process for the average joe, and simplifies it for them. As a Livepeer hodler, this is what I love to see.
