First, I really appreciate everyone’s feedback! I have some thoughts to share:
Dob, I appreciate you looking out for my well-being. As echoed by @MikeZupper, operating a multi-node setup on across different chains is a non-trivial task. I believe I have carefully considered the costs and my estimated time/effort; and I do believe what I want to achieve can be done with the proposed budget (with the tax caveat that explain below).
I can understand why you would think the quarterly cost is high based on your own node operating experience and architecture. Yes, it is possible to do it cheaper (self-hosted servers / limiting cloud rentals, smaller VPSs and storage, etc) and that is what I’ve been doing up to this point. The problem I have consistently run into is reliability. I will use the funds to expand well beyond a 2 node setup, and on enterprise-grade cloud services.
Also, if you have a recommendation for quality server rentals (especially in the EU) at reasonable prices please do let me know.
My intention was to submit the proposal as is, but another orchestrator reminded me about tax implications which I (embarrassingly) forgot to consider. I will have to pay taxes on all treasury proceeds. My effective tax rate is 25% so I would like to increase the proposal by that amount across the board.
