This post provides some basic instructions for how to livestream.
It assumes you have the following equipment:
- A computer (can be desktop / laptop / hosted server)
- An internet connection
Here are the steps:

Download and Install Open Broadcast Software (OBS)
- Go to www.obsproject.com
- Select the correct version for your operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux)
- Follow instructions to install on your laptop / macbook
- Once installed, launch the programme
- When you are asked to run the setup wizard, click “Cancel”

Set up a streaming service and start streaming
- Go to “Settings” in the bottom right
- Select “Stream” on the left
- For “Stream Type”, select “Custom Streaming Server”
- For URL, enter the endpoint for where you would like to send content
- Email us at apply@livepeer.tv, if you would like to livestream on Livepeer TV

- Click “Start Streaming” in the bottom right.

Set up the livestream content on your canvas
- Under “Sources”, click the + symbol
- Select “Text”, then click “OK”
- In the field that says “Text”, enter the following text:
Hello World
- Click “OK”
You can also add the following to your Canvas, by clicking the + symbol under Sources:

Video Capture Device
- e.g. from a webcam in your laptop
- e.g. from a USB webcam - we recommend the Logitech C920 or the 4K Logitech Brio.
- e.g. from an HDMI Capture Card - we recommend the Magewell USB HDMI Plus.

Screen Capture
- livestream your entire screen
- be careful not to share any sensitive information

Window Capture
- livestream the content of a single window
- be careful not to share any sensitive information

Videos
- Livestream pre-recorded video content form your computer

Images
- These can be resized and positioned anywhere on the canvas

Slideshows of Images
- Set the livestream to display a series of images in rotation
