Changes and opportunities

Hi everyone,

Over the past four years I have had the great pleasure of working in the Livepeer ecosystem and helping promote a healthy orchestrator community.

As I move into a full time position to help grow demand on the network and fulfill the obligations of the Agent SPE, I think now is a good time to make some fresh changes to some of the initiatives I’ve started over the years. Here are two updates that I will be making:

1. Rebranding The Water Cooler Chat

First, I will be stepping down as the host of the weekly water cooler chat. What started as a simple weekly call with Papa Bear and a few other Orchestrators talking about GPUs and troubleshooting operations, it has now turned into something larger and more robust than just a simple water cooler chat. There is an opportunity to take the weekly call and improve it, rebrand it, and turn it into a more structured call that can boost productivity in our ecosystem. As I focus on the Agent SPE efforts, I think this is a good opportunity to hand the reins back to Livepeer Inc and their awesome community team to develop a new weekly call that incorporates feedback and planning from the community. It was a great honor to serve as your host for the last four years and I’m excited to participate in community calls as a member of the Agent SPE.

2. Sunsetting Orchestrator Start-Up Grant

Secondly, I will be sunsetting the Orchestrator Start-Up Grant. Around the same time that I started the weekly call, I launched a 5-10k temporary LPT staking grant for new Orchestrators. The purpose was to motivate high performing nodes and inspire leadership through a guide to getting started. I believe it has served its purpose and the orchestrator community is stronger than ever. However, with stake requirements being 6k+, it is now hard to support the program and possibly brings unwanted outcomes if the recipient does not achieve significant stake during the 60 day staking duration. I believe it was a successful program and is now a good time to finish the initiative.

Next Steps

My focus is now strictly on Agent frameworks and incorporating Livepeer into broad ecosystems that benefit from our unique protocol. I will have limited time and resources to work on Orchestrator operations so I feel like this give room for others to bring fresh ideas and new energy to Orchestrator leadership.

Thank you all for your support and positivity during these times.

Looking forward to bringing decentralized Agents to life with the Agent SPE.

@Titan-Node it was a great run and humble beginnings for sure.

It has been amazingly helpful for new Orchestrators and community members joining Livepeer to introduce themselves and feel welcomed. Also has been a great place to forge our friendships and really work together to solve problems as Orchestrators.

Look forward to working with you on the Agent SPE road map!

You have been a pillar of this community and will continue to be @Titan-Node! I am so excited to help with what is next for our community. Excited for the conversation on Monday.

My plan is to get everyone’s feedback during that last official WC. My initial suggestion is to have two weekly calls:

  1. A weekly watercooler for people to hang and get to know each other more deeply.
  2. Biweekly/weekly ecosystem updates that enables community showcases, interviews/AMAs, key dialogues, and Treasury Talks.

I think the weekly cadence is important for decision making reasons. The WC has become a core pulse where our community comes together to hear pitches and major updates from across Livepeer. Additionally, I would also love to create a small scope community role (few hours a week) to give someone the opportunity to grow their community leadership skills!

Your ideas will be heavily guiding my direction so please come with your ideas on Monday! :green_heart:
